The A-Z Book Tag

Hello you lovely readers! Today, I’ve got another tag for you – one that I’ve seen doing the rounds a lot lately. The wonderful Amy-Louise over at Tomes With Tea sparked the inspiration of this post, which is all themed on the subject of the alphabet! So settle down and have a read, you might be able to learn a little bit more about me!

The A-Z Book Tag

A – Author you’ve read the most books from?
Lemony Snicket! A Series of Unfortunate Events is 13 books long and I read and loved every single one. They’re brilliant mysteries with brilliantly written characters and I always will have a special place in my heart for them.

B – Best sequel ever?
CROOKED KINGDOM. HANDS DOWN. By far one of the most intense and exciting sequels I have ever read, and it resolves everything that Six Of Crows left open!

C – Currently reading?
Ready Player One. I put it aside to read A Gathering of Shadows and then got so into AGOS that I forgot…

D – Drink of choice while reading?
I don’t really need to have a drink while I’m reading – I’m not a fan of tea unless it’s chai! Usually all I need is somewhere cosy and an instrumental playlist.

E – E-Reader or Physical books?
Physical. I’ve never had an e-reader, and I’ve tried before but it never really seemed to stick with me. There’s something about being able to hold the book and squeeze it tight that appeals to me.

F – Fictional character you would have dated in High School?
As much as I want to say Draco Malfoy, he was a nasty piece of work in school and probably wouldn’t have batted an eyelid at me…so let’s say Dean Thomas? He is so wonderfully sweet and kind!

G – Glad you gave this book a chance
It actually has to be Six Of Crows. It was on my shelf for about 5 months before I gave in to the constant excitement about it, and I am so utterly glad I did. It’s now one of my all-time favourite books!

H – Hidden gem book
Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner. I never see ANYONE raving about how good this book is. It’s well-written, heartbreaking, and perfect if you love reading books and crying. Adam Silvera fans, this is one for you!

I – Important moment in your reading life
Discovering manga for the very first time. I remember choosing volume one of Fruits Basket out of the small manga display and buying it. I took it home and read it all that evening and was instantly hooked.

J – Just finished reading…
A Gathering Of Shadows. I don’t think I’ll be over it for quite a while…well, until I start reading A Conjuring of Light!

K – Kinds of books you won’t read
I don’t like wartime fiction, and really don’t have much interest in history books either.

L – Longest book you’ve read?
I think this has to be Order of the Phoenix, at 766 pages!

M – Major book hangover because of…
A Gathering Of Shadows. What am I meant to do now?! I’m going to be going around my bedroom trying to light candles with magic that I don’t have!

N – Number of bookcases you own?
Just the one! I currently don’t have space for a huge bookshelf, but that may all change soon so watch this space…

O – One book you’ve read multiple times?
Order of the Phoenix again. I can’t remember off the top of my head how many times I’ve reread this one, but think it reaches close to the ten times mark!

P – Preferred place to read?
In my bedroom, usually sat at my desk next to my speaker. I have a really cosy chair, so will snuggle up in my blanket on it and rest my feet on the end of my bed.

Q – Quote that inspires you / gives you the “feels” ?
“I will have you without armour, Kaz Brekker, or I will not have you at all.” – Inej, Six Of Crows
“Magic is all and none. It’s sight, and taste, and scent, and sound, and touch, and it’s also something else entirely.” Alucard Emery, A Gathering Of Shadows

R – Reading regret?
The Loneliest Girl in the Universe. I couldn’t stand this book, and was really disappointed that I bought into the hype. It just seemed so far fetched to me and the main character was unlikeable!

S – Series you started, but need to finish?
The Mortal Instruments! I got three books in and then just…stopped. I had no reason to stop, but it ended up happening! I’ll definitely read the rest of the series one day!

T – Three of your all-time favorite books.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – J.K. Rowling
Nimona – Noelle Stevenson
Noah Can’t Even – Simon James Green

U – Unapologetic fangirl for…
SIX. OF. CROWS. I will not apologise for screaming from the rooftops about this book. I will not apologise for shoving it at everyone. I will not apologise for recommending it to EVERYONE. It is excellent.

V – Very excited for this release more than any others
Children of Blood and Bone. I have been on such a huge fantasy kick this year and am remembering why I love the genre so much. I have heard nothing but high praise for this epic fantasy book and can’t wait to sink my teeth into it!

W – Worst habit?
Buying a book and then not reading it for about 3 months…

X- X Marks the Spot: the 27th book on your shelf?
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. (Pssssst this is also a brilliant book if you want nasty, cruel faeries and humans being just as bad)

Y – Your latest book purchase?
The last book I bought was a signed copy of Nevermoor for my best friend. The last book I bought for myself was Vicious by V.E. Schwab.

Z – Zzzz snatcher:
Pride and Prejudice. I’m sorry but it was just so dull!

I hope you enjoyed this little A B C of me and my favourite books! Give me a tag if you decide to do the tag yourself, I’d love to read your answers!

  1. I can relate to how much you fangirl over Six of Crows 😁 such an amazing duology!

It took me about 2 months to finish Pride and Prejudice, I just couldn’t get into it but I did start liking it a bit better after re-reading in the Manga format!

      1. Yes, I found the manga on Netgalley. I believe the publishers are Udon Entertainment? There are many classics they have converted to Manga format. Quite fun to read! 😊

  2. I love this tag what’s been going around. It’s a fun way of finding out more bookish facts of others. I loved it that Fruits Basket was the first manga series you read too!
